Thousands of people were killed and at least 10,000 are missing in Libya as horrid floods unleashed due to a huge Mediterranean storm that burst dams. Neighbourhoods are completely wrecked and ruined, their buildings washed out cars flipped on their roofs, and streets are covered in mud and rubble. The people of Libya are suffering and in need of desperate aid. Mabrooka Elmesmary, a journalist describes the city as a “disaster on a massive scale”.
“There is no water, no electricity, no petrol,” she reported. “The city is flattened.”
